About

Aacoustic was born from a simple observation: the small everyday calculations of an acoustician — adding levels, recombining octave bands, estimating a reverberation time — too often end up in a makeshift spreadsheet or heavyweight software. This site makes them available in seconds, free, with no signup and nothing to install.

Behind Aacoustic is an acoustician and developer who believes that understanding beats blindly applying a formula. That is why every tool ships with an "Understand the theory" section: the equations, their domain of validity, interactive widgets to build intuition, the classic mistakes to avoid and reference sources (ISO and IEC standards, classic textbooks, university courses).

The philosophy

Fast tools (a result in less time than it takes to open a spreadsheet), transparent ones (formulas displayed, symbols explained, assumptions stated) and respectful ones: every calculation runs in your browser and your data never leaves your machine — including the microphone signal used by the reverberation-time measurement.

What's next?

New tools are added regularly: frequency weightings, noise exposure, sound insulation, barrier attenuation… Got an idea that would save you time? Write to us — the best suggestions become the site's next tools.
